Vibration Monitoring for Pumps

Vibration Monitoring for Pumps

Pumps are often critical to production, utilities and process stability. Continuous vibration trends can reveal developing mechanical problems before performance loss becomes an unplanned stop.

Bearing condition

Track changes associated with rolling-element bearing wear and lubrication-related deterioration.

Imbalance & misalignment

Identify vibration patterns associated with rotating imbalance, coupling alignment and mounting issues.

Hydraulic influence

Interpret vibration together with operating point because cavitation, recirculation and process changes can influence measured vibration.

Measurement strategy

Measure at suitable bearing housings on the pump and driver. Trend vibration against speed, load and process conditions; use additional process data when hydraulic behaviour may be involved.

Scalable monitoring with Istec VibSys

Istec VibSys A01 provides four vibration channels for distributed machine-condition monitoring. Units can be installed close to selected assets and expanded as monitoring coverage grows.

VibSys works with compatible 2-wire IEPE accelerometers and is not restricted to Istec-branded sensors. Sensor selection should match the speed range, expected vibration frequencies, temperature, environment and mounting arrangement.

VibSys supports condition monitoring, trending and diagnostics. Safety-critical protection, shutdown and trip functions should use the appropriate dedicated protection architecture.
