Vibration Monitoring for Fans & Blowers
Fans and blowers can develop vibration from rotor contamination, imbalance, bearing deterioration, looseness, resonance and drive-train problems.
Rotor balance
Build-up, erosion or damage can change rotor balance and increase vibration.
Bearings & supports
Monitor bearing housings and structural response for developing wear or looseness.
Drive train
Motor, coupling, belt and gearbox condition can all influence vibration measured at the fan.
Measurement strategy
Choose measurement points on rigid bearing locations and consider operating speed, dampers, process load and structural resonance when evaluating trends.
Scalable monitoring with Istec VibSys
Istec VibSys A01 provides four vibration channels for distributed machine-condition monitoring. Units can be installed close to selected assets and expanded as monitoring coverage grows.
VibSys works with compatible 2-wire IEPE accelerometers and is not restricted to Istec-branded sensors. Sensor selection should match the speed range, expected vibration frequencies, temperature, environment and mounting arrangement.
VibSys supports condition monitoring, trending and diagnostics. Safety-critical protection, shutdown and trip functions should use the appropriate dedicated protection architecture.
Build a monitoring system for your application
OEM Nordic can help select measurement points, IEPE sensors, VibSys channel count and accessories for your machine or plant.
