Albright contactors serve several roles in industrial DC equipment: connecting a load to its supply, switching a hydraulic pump or controlling motor direction. Begin with the equipment's circuit requirements, then select the complete contactor variant.
AGVs and industrial trucks
Albright's AGV guidance identifies the SW80, SW180 and SW200 series and distinguishes main, changeover and motor-reversing configurations. Its reversing examples include DC88, DC182 and SW182. A vehicle may contain multiple contactors with different jobs, so an application match is only the first selection step.
Airport tractors and battery-powered vehicles
Albright identifies industrial trucks and airport tractors as applications for DC182 and SU280. These components have different circuit functions: DC182 is a motor-reversing assembly; SU280 is a normally open main contactor. Replacing either requires the original specification and wiring information.
Hydraulic power packs
Albright lists hydraulic power packs among SU80 applications. Check whether the contactor operates a pump supply, how often the pump starts and how long the coil remains energised. Equipment with a different direction-control arrangement may require a different switching solution.
UPS, telecommunications and power distribution
Albright lists UPS and power distribution among SU80 applications, and telecommunications and power distribution for SW80. Determine the actual switching task: maintaining a closed supply connection and interrupting a loaded circuit are different requirements. Review load type, voltage and switching conditions rather than choosing from a thermal-current figure alone.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose an AGV contactor only by current?
No. You also need the contact arrangement, coil and control requirements, voltage, switching conditions, duty and installation details.
Can a main contactor reverse a motor?
A single normally open main contactor is not equivalent to a motor-reversing assembly. The motor circuit determines the required arrangement.
Does an application mention establish an approved replacement?
No. Manufacturer application guidance indicates where a type may be relevant; approval for a particular machine requires the equipment specification.
