A waste-to-energy plant runs around the clock, and its pumps, fans and compressors are scattered across the site. Nobody can listen to all of them. VibSys can – and it tells you which one to visit first.
Across the whole plant – 3D walkthrough
Follow Istec VibSys from machine to machine in a waste-to-energy plant and see how one trend can point to the one that needs attention. Illustrative scenario, not real plant data.

- Four time-synchronised channels per unit – place units close to the machines and link them over Ethernet.
- Use the IEPE sensors you trust. Compatible 2-wire IEPE accelerometers from any brand work.
- Signals to your control system. 2 relays, 4 × 4–20 mA and Modbus TCP, plus Istec Sphere over HTTPS.
Where to start in a plant like this
Balance-of-plant pumps
Feed, cooling and utility pumps are many, spread out and easy to forget between rounds.
Fans and blowers
Draught and ventilation fans work in dust and heat. A rising vibration trend is an early hint to plan a look.
Compressors and auxiliaries
Air and process compressors and their drives can join the same monitoring set-up.

Straight answers
Does VibSys replace machinery protection?
No. VibSys is for condition monitoring, trending and diagnostics. Trip, shutdown and safety functions stay on systems designed for them.
Can I start with one unit?
Yes. Buy one unit online. For several units or a complete system, request a quote.
Do I need Istec sensors?
No. Compatible standard 2-wire IEPE accelerometers work, so you choose sensors for the machine and the environment.
Where does VibSys come from?
Istec develops and manufactures it. OEM NORDIC, a business name of MK-Controls Oy, is an official Istec distributor in Finland.
Firmware: current VibSys units ship with A01 firmware. The upcoming M40 firmware adds more functions through a normal firmware update – Istec has informed that the hardware stays the same.
